• The film was set against the backdrop of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. One of the most significant provisions of the Act was related to the annulment of marriage or divorce.
• This was the first of the two films produced by Mahesh Kaul and Mukhram Sharma which featured Rajendra Kumar, Kamini Kadam and Daisy Irani in lead roles. The other film was "Santan" (1959). For some reason, Daisy Irani was credited as Ashwini in both films. Rajendra Kumar and Kamini Kadam were paired in one more film after this - "Maa Baap" (1960).[1][2]
• This was the debut Hindi film of Marathi actress Kamini Kadam.
• Actresses Aruna Irani and Mumtaz appeared in uncredited roles in this film. They were around 12 years old at the time and played the role of school students. According to the Hindi Film Geet Kosh, actress Laxmi Chhaya also had an uncredited cameo as a child artist. She was around 9 years old at the time.[MR1]

• दुखियों पे कुछ रहम करो - In the film, this song was preceded by a few lines sung by Manna Dey. These lines were not part of the song version released on music records.
