This film was based on a Hindi novel of the same title written by Ashapurna Devi. Another Rajshri Productions film - "Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi" (2008) - was based on the same story.[1]
The audio records of this film were issued and the film was certified in 1975. The film itself was released in 1976.
This was the first film in which Rakhee was credited with her married name Rakhee Gulzar.
This film was remade in Telugu as "Sandhya" (1980) starring Sujatha.
