• With a budget of over Rs. 300 crores, this was one of the most expensive Hindi films ever made. However, it was not received well by critics and failed at the box office. There were reports of theatre owners and distributors demanding a refund from the makers of the film to cover their losses.[1][2]
• This was the first film in which Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan worked together in lead roles. Bachchan had previously provided the narration in Aamir's "Lagaan" (2001) but did not appear in it.[3]
• The film was in the making for about two years since it took some time to finalise its cast as well as its script. Yash Raj Films were in talks with Hrithik Roshan for the lead role but went with Aamir Khan eventually. It was reported that Shraddha Kapoor and Alia Bhatt had also been considered for the role that finally went to Fatima Sana Shaikh.[4][5]
• Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy had been signed on for the film initially. However, the trio opted out when it was delayed since they could not commit so much time for it. Based on their recommendation, Ajay - Atul were brought on to compose the film's music.[6]
• The film was released in multiple languages and formats. It was released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, and in 2D, 3D, and IMAX formats.
