The film was certified on December 31 2018. It was released along with its music in January 2019.
This was a dramatised account of the surgical strikes conducted by India across the Line of Control in Pakistani occupied Kashmir in September 2016. The strikes were conducted in response to the 2016 Uri attack in which four terrorists killed 19 Indian soldiers and injured many. The film was critically acclaimed, won several awards and became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time. The line "How's the josh?" / "High, sir!" in the film became immensely popular and was invoked by many public personalities. The film's success was unexpected since it had a small budget, a debutant director, Aditya Dhar, and no star actors.[1][2][3]
Director Aditya Dhar and actress Yami Gautam became friends during the film's promotions and got married two years later, in July 2021.[4]
This was the first film in which Paresh Rawal and Swaroop Sampath worked together after they got married in 1987. They had worked together in one other film before this - "Lorie" (1984).[5]
