Trivia

    Album

  • This was Suraiya and Dev Anand's first film together. They fell in love during its making and got romantically involved. The couple faced stiff resistance from Suraiya's grandmother. The reasons for her objection are unclear. It is said that she did not approve of their relationship since they were Muslims and Dev Anand was Hindu. Another theory is that she was afraid of losing Suraiya's financial support after marriage - the actress was the only earning member of their family. They carried on behind the grandmother's back for some time but eventually decided to part ways. They worked together in seven films, "Do Sitare" (1951) and "Sanam" (1951) being their last. Dev Anand married Kaplana Kartik in 1954 but Suraiya remained unmarried till she died in 2004.[1][2][3]

    Song

  • Kinare Kinare Chale Jaayenge - The song was shot on Dev Anand and Suraiya while rowing a boat on a lake. Suraiya fell in the lake during its shooting and was rescued by Dev Anand who jumped into the lake after her. The actors fell in love after this incident and were romantically involved for the next couple of years till they parted ways.[4]
