Trivia

    Album

  • This film was adapted from the Tamil film "Pudhiya Mugam" (1993). It re-used A.R. Rahman's music for the original film. Rahman had a fallout with the producer, director of "Pudhiya Mugam", Suresh Menon, over the remake. When Menon sold the rights for "Pudhiya Mugam", Rahman was under the impression that the Hindi film was going to be a dubbed production and not a remake. Instead of getting his usual fee for a new film, which was about a crore at the time, Rahman only received recording charges for this film. As a result of this experience, Rahman started insisting on retaining the copyright for his songs and on signing-off on air-tight contracts.[MR19]
  • This was the first time that lyricist P.K. Mishra wrote lyrics for a Hindi film that was not a dubbed version of a Tamil film.

    Song

  • Hum Dum Pyara Pyara - This was the only song in the film that was not composed by A.R. Rahman. The actual composer of the song is not known. On the CD, the music of this song was credited to the label, Bombino Music.
