Trivia

    Album

  • The film was declared tax-free in the state of Uttar Pradesh even before its release. This was perhaps the first such instance.[1]
  • Complaints were filed against the makers of the film for spreading misinformation. This was done after the film's publicity campaign distributed flyers that said "Decision on Maharashtra's Tukaram Case. Taj Mahal to be closed for the tourists from 23rd September, 2016 by the Honorable Court's order.". This fake notice was a reference to the film's plot and allegedly caused a lot of confusion amongst tourists planning to visit the Taj Mahal.[2]
  • The film's shooting was completed in June 2013 and it was scheduled to be released later that year. However, it was delayed and eventually released only in September 2016 due to some reason.[3]
  • The film's title came from the punchline of a popular advertisement of the Brooke Bond Taj Mahal tea brand. The ad, which was first aired in the 1980s, featured Ustad Zakir Hussain playing the tabla with the Taj Mahal in the background.
