Trivia

    Album

  • The film was set in an unnamed, fictional country. However, there were obvious parallels between it and India. The film's plot was set against the backdrop of two warring nations, presumably representing India and China, and the conflicting ideologies of two political parties, equivalents of the Congress and the Communist Party. Ironically, the symbol of the party that appeared to represent the Communist Party was the Nazi Haken Kreuz! The film opened with a disclaimer, "This is a motion picture of ideas. It projects universal truth but all references to any country, party or any leader are totally imaginary and fictional".
  • Filmmaker R.K. Nayyar dedicated the film to his wife Sadhana, "who was a source of constant inspiration". They had gotten married a few months before the film's release. The opening credits also displayed an unusual credit - "and affections for S. Mukerji" - just before Nayyar's producer, director credit. S. Mukerji's son Joy Mukerji played a lead role in the film.
