- This film was Nasir Husain's last film as a director. After the failure of this film and his previous two films, "Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai" (1981) and "Manzil Manzil" (1984), he made a successful comeback as a producer with "Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak" (1988).[1][2][3][MR14]
- Nasir Husain had announced a film with the same title as this film in the early 1980s. The film was launched with a star-studded cast that included Dilip Kumar, Dharmendra, Rishi Kapoor, Raj Kiran, Asha Parekh, Sharada, Zeenat Aman, Tina Munim, Kaajal Kiran and Amjad Khan. The announcement generated a lot of excitement and the film was soon sold in all the territories. However, the film was shelved when, after shooting a few reels, Dilip Kumar wanted some changes to the film's script. Nasir Husain did not want to compromise on his vision by accepting these changes and he respected Dilip Kumar too much to replace him with another actor. While the earlier film was to be produced by Husain himself, this film was produced by Mushir - Riaz and was based on a completely different script than the original film.[MR14]
- Aamir Khan worked as an assistant director (AD) to Nasir Husain in this film before starting his career as an actor. He had worked as an AD in Nasir Husain's previous film "Manzil Manzil" (1984) as well.[4][MR14]

- जब चाहा यारा तुमने - R.D. Burman had used the hook tune of this song the previous year in an interlude for the song "Mitwa" ("Manzil Manzil", 1984).[5]
- ऐसे ना ठुकराओ ऐ सनम - This song was not part of the film's original audio release. It was reportedly added when Jaya Prada insisted on a song to be picturised on her. The song was included in the subsequent audio releases of this film.
