This was the first film Padmini Kolhapure had signed in a lead role. However, the film was delayed and was released only after her debut film as a lead actor, "Ahista Ahista" (1981).[1]
The extended song sequence in this film, that included "Bolo Bolo Kuch To Bolo" and "Poochho Naa Yaar Kya Hua", was preceded by a sequence that had a song by Manna Dey and Asha Bhosle, "Main Hoon Woh Albela". This song, filmed on Vijay Arora and Arti Gupta, was not part of the film's audio release.
This film was Nasir Husain's first failure in a long time. It shook his confidence and also created a misunderstanding between him and Rishi Kapoor. The actor avoided the filmmaker for a long time after the film's release since he blamed himself for its debacle. Husain had to go with Sunny Deol for his next film "Manzil Manzil" (1984) due to this.[2][MR14]
Nasir Hussain's son Mansoor Khan assisted him on this film.[MR14]
Song
Dil Lena Khel Hai Dildaar Ka - The prominent synthesizer riff in this song was played by Kersi Lord.[3]
Hoga Tumse Pyara Kaun - R.D. Burman simulated the sound of a running train in this song by rubbing pieces of sandpaper together.
Bolo Bolo Kuch To Bolo - This song starts as "Bolo Bolo" sung by Asha Bhosle but transitions into a different song "Poochho Na Yaar Kya Hua" sung by Mohammed Rafi half-way through.
Pari Ho Aasmani Tum - This song has a line with the tune of another song in the film - "Poochho Na Yaar Kya Hua".
Pari Ho Aasmani Tum - This song opens with Shailendra Singh singing a couplet whose recitation has been part of the opening logo of every Nasir Husain Film - "Kya ishq ne samjha hai kya husn ne jaana hai hum khaak nasheenon ki thokar mein zamana hai". This couplet is a variation of a shair written by lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri's mentor, Jigar Moradabadi. It was derived by switching the words "husn" and "ishq" in the original shair.
