Trivia

    Album

  • The lead actors of the film played unusual roles. Shah Rukh Khan played a man of short stature, Anushka Sharma played a space scientist with cerebral palsy, and Katrina Kaif played an alcoholic actress. In an earlier version of the script, Kaif was supposed to play herself and the film was titled "Katrina Meri Jaan". This was the three actors' second film together after "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" (2012).[1][2]
  • Many film personalities made cameo appearances as themselves in the film. They included Salman Khan, Jaya Bachchan, Juhi Chawla, Karisma Kapoor, Kajol, Rani Mukherji, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Remo D'Souza, Ganesh Acharya, Javed Jaffrey, Arjun Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, and Sridevi. This was Sridevi's last film appearance - she died before its release. The film opened with a tribute to her - "Your memory is a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure".
  • There were various speculations about the film's title before it was announced. These speculations included Bandhua, Batla, and Bauna.[3]
  • No prosthetics were used to make Shah Rukh Khan appear like a dwarf in the film. This was done using VFX and a technique called forced perspective that uses optical illusion to make subjects appear smaller than they are. Director Aanand L. Rai called it "India's biggest VFX film".[4][5]
  • The Hindi film song "Affoo Khuda (Humko Tum Pe Pyar Aaya)" ("Jab Jab Phool Khile", 1965) was used prominently in the film. Shah Rukh Khan's character in the film danced to it in a 2-minute sequence. The song was composed by Kalyanji - Anandji, written by Anand Bakshi, and sung by Mohammed Rafi.[6]

    Song

  • Jab Tak Jahan Mein Mera Naam Hai Tab Tak Mere Naam Tu - This was singer Abhay Jodhpurkar's debut Hindi film song. He had sung South Indian film songs prior to it.
  • Main Baar Baar Tanha Hua - The song was an official adaptation of a qawwali by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, "Main Yaar Yaar Kehna". Two other Hindi film songs, "Nazren Ladgaiyaan" ("Bal Bramhachari", 1996) and "Ye Pyar Pyar Kya Hai" ("Daraar", 1996), had plagiarised the same qawwali earlier.[7][8][9]
