Ajay Jhingran is a singer and lyricist in Bollywood. Raised in a family of musicians in Uttar Pradesh, he was trained in the Bijnour Gharana from his childhood.
Ajay studied literature in the Aligarh Muslim University and holds a masters degree in Indian theatre from the Punjab University. It was singer Sonu Nigam who helped Jhingran find his place in Bollywood.
Some of his popular songs as a singer include "Mann Yeh Bavra" ("Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi", 2005), "Khoya Khoya Chand" ("Khoya Khoya Chand", 2007) and "Billoo Bhayankar" ("Billu Barber", 2009). As a lyricist, he has worked in films like "Bolo Ram" (2004). "Rakht" (2004), "Page 3" (2005) and "Phir Kabhi" (2009).
He died prematurely of a sudden heart attack on Sep 18, 2013.
