Born on 5 September 1950, Anwar Qureshi is a classical musician and ghazal singer. He has over 3000 ghazal shows to his credit.
Born into a family of musicians, Anwar Qureshi was trained in classical music by his father, Mohammed Hussain Khan, and in violin and ghazal by his brother, Ustad Fayyaz Hussain Khan. He gave his first ghazal show in Panjim, Goa in 1981.

He has performed on All India Radio and Doordarshan and has sung songs for Hindi TV serials.
Released in 1991, Amol Palekar’s “Thodasa Roomani Ho Jaaye” had Qureshi singing under the music direction of Bhaskar Chandavarkar. In the later eighties, he had also sung in “Zooni” which was touted to be Muzaffar Ali’s masterpiece but was never released. It had lyrics by Shahryar and music by Khayyam.
He is a recipient of the prestigious Raja Mantri Award for his contribution to music.
