Benny Dayal is an Indian playback singer. He was born in Kollam, Kerala. While he grew up and got schooled primarily in Abu Dhabi, he completed his B. Com and Diploma in Journalism from Madras Christian College.
Benny started of in a now defunct band called “S5” launched by the television channel, SS Music with music director Pravin Mani. He got his first break as a playback singer from A.R. When his song "Nee Marilyn Monroe" (“Azhagiya Thamizh Magan”, 2007) became a big hit and with A.R. Rahman's encouragement, Benny quit his BPO job and took up playback singing as a full-time career.
A spate of sucessful films followed in Tamil - "Sakkarakatti" (2008), "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa" (2009), and Hindi - "Ghajini" (2007), "Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na" (2008), "Yuvvraj" (2008), "Delhi 6" (2009) - and helped him establish himself in the film industry.
Benny is the winner of Filmfare's R.D. Burman Award for New Music Talent in 2008 and the Max Stardust Award for New Musical Sensation.
