C. Arjun was a music composer in Bollywood. He is best remembered for his compositions in “Jai Santoshi Maa” (1975). A song that hasn’t left fans after these many years is “Paas Baitho Tabiyat Behal Jayegi” from “Punarmilan” in 1964, sung in the voice of Mohammed Rafi.
Born into a Sindhi family on 1 September 1933, his family settled in Baroda after Partition. He assisted music director Bulo C. Rani. Arjun’s first movie as a composer was “Abana” (1958), a Sindhi movie.
Movies he has worked on include “Road No. 303” (1960), “Main Aur Mera Bhai” (1961), “Ek Saal Pehle” (1965), “Sushila” (1966), “Guru Aur Chela” (1973), “Love in Kashmir” (1976), “Karva Chauth” (1980) and “Sati Naag Kanya” (1983).
Many of his songs have been sung by Usha Mangeshkar. Other singers who have rendered his songs eternal are Kavi Pradeep, Mahendra Kapoor, Mubarak Begam, Talat Mahmood, Mukesh, Manna Dey and Asha Bhosle.
He died on 30 April 1992.
