Dalip Tahil is a film, television and theatre actor. He has also dabbled with music in his movies.
Born on 20 October 1952 in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, he began his career as a theatre artist and then moved on to film. His career in films began with national award winner “Ankur” (1974) and he has acted in movies like “Gandhi” (1982), “Arth” (1982), “My Dear Kuttichathan” (1984) and “Baazigar” (1993).
In 1986 he sang “Jeena Hai To Fena Hai” (“Meri Kahani”) along with Parvati Khan. Next year he sang the duet, “O Tere Pyaar Pe Bharosa Kar To Loon” with Lata Mangeshkar in the feature film “Hawalaat” (1987).
He has sung “Bombay Dreams” with Raj Ghatak, Karen David and Preeya Kalidas, “Don’t Release Me” with A.R. Rahman and “Happy Endings” with Preeya Kalidas in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical “Bombay Dreams” (2002). In 2003, he was a part of Dan Ferreira’s popular British soap opera “East Enders” where in the 15 August 2003 episode he performed “Love Me Tender”.
