Haimanti Shukla is a Bengali playback singer who has also lent her voice to songs in the Hindi film industry.
Born on 2 February 1949, she became a classical singer under the guidance of her father Late Pandit Harihar Shukla. She began her career in recording in 1972. She has around 50 released music albums to her name and has sung in Bengali, Hindi and Oriya. Some of the songs she has sung in Bollywood films include “Are Re Natkhat” (“Anjane Mehman”, 1975), “Aansoo Ki Aarti” (“Chashm-E-Baddoor”, 1981), “Bhor Bhai Bhairav Gun Gao” (“Sweekar Kiya Maine”, 1983), “Jao Saiyan Aise Na Churao” (“Phulwari”, 1984) and “Zara Dheere Zara Dheeme” (“Ek Pal, 1986).
