Hamsika Iyer is a Mumbai-based singer.
Her father, S. Balachander, is a Carnatic musician and also her first music teacher. She got noticed in 1995, when she participated in two popular TV shows - “Close Up Antakshari” and “Sa Re Ga Ma” and was a finalist in the latter. She debuted with the song “Pyar Se Dekh Le” (“Calcutta Mail”, 2003) but her big breakthrough was “Chanda Re” (“Eklavya”, 2007), a melodic lullaby.

Since then, the she’s has sung for several Hindi film and regional language film songs. In 2011 she sang for the blockbuster hit, “Chammak Challo”, with Akon for the Shahrukh Khan movie “Ra.One”.
She has also worked on the audio book series for kids called “Karadi Tales” along with the band “3 Brothers & a Violin”.
