Amitabh Bhattacharya is an Indian playback singer and lyricist.
Born in Lucknow, he went to Mumbai in the early 2000s to become a singer. However, he got his first opportunity in Bollywod as a lyricist in the 2008 film “Aamir”. His real taste of success came when he wrote the lyrics for the song “Emosanal Athyachar” in the film “Dev D” in 2009. The song was an instant hit and it also carved a niche for him as a lyricist.
It also laid the foundation for further collaborations with the film’s music director, Amit Trivedi.
However, Amitabh Bhattacharya’s real interest lay in singing. Help came his way in the form of his friend and music composer Amit Trivedi who wanted him to write a song for the movie “Wake up Sid”. However, Javed Akhtar ended up writing the lyrics and Amitabh Bhattacharya sang backup vocals in the critically-acclaimed song “Iktara”. Some of his other films as a lyricist are “99” and “Acid Factory” in 2009, “Chance Pe Dance” and “Housefull” in 2010.
As a playback singer, he is best noted for the songs “Aankhon Ki Baat” (Remix) in the film “Fast Forward Volume” in 2009, “Papa Jag Jayega”, in the film “Housefull” and the songs “Aasman Ke Paar” and “Dariya Ubale” in “Admissions Open” in 2010.
