Jasbir Jassi is a Punjabi playback singer and actor who has also made his mark in the Hindi film industry. He has to his credit eight pop albums of which “Dil Le Gayee” (1998) was the first.
Jassi was born on 7 February 1970 in Gurdaspur, Punjab. He picked up playing the harmonium at a young age. V.S. Jolly and Puran Shah Koti have been his music teachers. Influences on his musical style also comes from Ustad Shaukat Ali Khan and Baba Kashmira Singh.

He turned music director and lyricist in Bollywood with “Dobara”, a 2004 feature film by Shashi Ranjan. Here, he wrote, composed and sang the song “Pyar Mere”. In 2011 he recorded “Laungda Lashkara” along with Mahalakshmi Iyer and Hard Kaur for the film “Patiala House”.
He has also sung “Mahiya” in Tanuja Chandra’s Indian English movie “Hope and a Little Sugar” (2006) and the title song in Navaniat Singh’s Punjabi movie “Mel Karade Rabba” (2010).
