Jaspinder Narula, the noted Punjabi singer, shot to fame in Bollywood following her rendition of "Pyar To Hona Hi Tha", her duet with Remo Fernandes in the 1998 film "Pyar To Hona Hi Tha". She won the Filmfare Award in 1999 for the Best Female Playback Singer for this song.
She was introduced to music by her father, Kesar Singh Narula. Jaspinder started her career with bhajans and Sufiana music and turned to Bollywood much later. It was following the advice of music director Kalyanji that she moved to Mumbai.
Some of her memorable contributions in Bollywood are "Taare Hain Baarati" ("Viraasat", 1997), “Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare” (“Dulhe Raja”, 1998), "Bumbro" ("Mission Kashmir", 2000), "Soni Soni" ("Mohabbatein", 2000), "I Am the Best" ("Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani" (2000) and "Bunty Aur Babli" and "Nach Baliye" in "Bunty Aur Babli" (2005).
