Loy Mendonsa is a part of the music director trio, Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy.
Loy started his career in television working the Doordarshan in Delhi. He composed for iconic shows like Siddharth Basu's "Quiz Time", Prannoy Roy's "The World This Week" and Shahrukh Khan's debut TV serial "Fauji". He also also part of the theater scene in Delhi. He decided to move to Bombay and in 1989 met Ehsaan Noorani. The two decided to get together to make ad jingles. It was around this time that they met Shankar Mahadevan and formed Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy. After debuting in the troubled film "Dus" (1997), they struck gold with the music of "Dil Chahta Hai" (2001). The trio never looked back and went on to become one of the premier Bollywood music directors.
His mastery on the keys are visible in many Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy compositions. Loy's daughter Alyssa Mendonsa is a playback singer.
