Neelesh Misra is a scriptwriter and lyricist in Bollywood. He used to be the Deputy Executive Editor at the Hindustan Times newspaper. In addition to being a journalist he has published a number of books and is also a radio storyteller and the head of India’s first writer-led band “Band Called Nine”.
He became popular as a lyricist in 2005 with the lines of “Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai” and “Chalo Tumko Lekar Chalein” from the movie “Jism”. Few of Misra’s popular Bollywood lyrics are “Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai” (“Woh Lamhe”), “Lamha Lamha” (“Gangster”, 2006), “I Am In Love” (“Once Upon A Time In Mumbai”, 2010), “Anjaana Anjaani Ki Kahani” (“Anjaana Anjaani”, 2010), “I Love You” (“Bodyguard”, 2011).
Other Bollywood movies he has associated with include “Rog” (2005), “Woh Lamhe” (2006), “Jannat” (2008), “Sikandar” (2009) and “Dil To Bachha Hai Ji” (2011). His band consists of leading bollywood singer Shilpa Rao and upcoming music composer Amartya Rahut. The band released its debut album “Rewind: Nine Lost Memories” in 2011.
