Prakash Mehra was a film producer and director in the Hindi film industry who created hit films like "Zanjeer" (1973), "Muqaddar Ka Sikandar" (1978) and "Laawaris" (1981).
Born on 13 July 1939 in Bijnaur, Uttar Pradesh, he is credited with launching Amitabh Bachchan’s journey into superstardom. He was also one of the first Bollywood directors to attempt a crossover to Hollywood though the project was eventually shelved.
Some of the movies he has written songs for include "Hasina Maan Jaayegi" (1968), "Laawaris" (1981), "Sharaabi" (1984) and "Imaandar" (1987).
