Rajkamal was a playback singer and music director in the Hindi film industry. He is credited with classic compositions like “Chand Jaise Mukhde Pe” (“Saawan Ko Aane Do”, 1979) and “Kahan Se Aaye Badra” (“Chashm-E-Baddoor”, 1981) both sung by K.J. Yesudas.
Born to Tulsidas and wife in Matoda, Rajasthan on 15 January 1928 as the eldest of their five children, he was named Dalpat at birth, which he later changed to Rajkamal when he entered Bollywood. He was married to Sagar and fathered six children, three of whom are musicians. He died on 1 September 2005 at the age of 77.
As a playback singer, he has rendered songs like “Maine Tumko Hi” (“Phulwari”, 1984), “Tum Sundar Ho” (“Katha”, 1983), “Gunje Gunje Re” (“Akhand Saubhagyavati”, 1982) and “Jaane Kyu Hain” (“Jazbaat”, 1980).
