Sardul Singh Kwatra was a film and music director, who primarily worked for Punjabi films and also composed music for a few Hindi films.
Born in a Sikh family in 1928 in Lahore (now in Pakistan), he began his training in classical music from Sardar Avtar Singh in Lahore. After partition, his family moved to Amritsar, and later to Mumbai. His career started as an assistant to music director Hansraj Behl.

In 1949, the Kwatra family produced the Punjabi film, “Posti”. The film as well as its music were big hits and made way for several more Punjabi and a few Hindi films by Kwatra Production.
While Kwatra wasn’t very successful in Hindi films, he did compose many hit songs for Punjabi films.
In the 1970s he moved from Mumbai to Chandigarh and later to the US. He was in the US when he died at the age of 77 in 2005.
