S.H. Bihari was a poet and also a lyricist in the Hindi film industry active from the 1950s till 1980s. Born as Shamshul Huda Bihari in 1922 in Bihar, he wrote romantic poems and songs in Hindi and Urdu. His brother, Huda Bihari, was a director and producer as well.
From Calcutta he moved to Bombay in 1947. During the fifties and sixties, Bihari, in a partnership with O.P. Nayyar and Asha Bhosle, created some magical songs. Some of them are “Bahut Shukriya Badi Meherbani” (“Ek Musafir Ek Hasina”, 1962), “Aapse Maine Meri Jaan” (“Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi”, 1966), “Kajra Mohabbat Wala” (“Kismat”, 1969) and “Chehre Se Zara” (“Ek Bar Muskura Do”, 1972).
A list of his prominent movies would include “Shart” (1953), “Arab Ka Saudagar” (1956), “Ek Musafir Ek Hasina” (1962), “Kashmir Ki Kali” (1964), “Sawan Ki Ghata” (1966), “Kismat” (1968), “Ek Baar Muskura Do” (1972), “Pyar Jhukta Nahin” (1985) and “Love 86” (1986). He passed away in Mumbai on 25 February 1987.
