Shellee is a poet and lyricist in the Hindi film industry who made it big with his debut for the film "Dev D" (2009).

 

Shelle was born Shaliendra Singh Sodhi in a literary family. His father, Himmat Singh Sodhi, was a poet, writer and literary critic. Growing up in his father’s world of poetry and literature, Shellee was drawn to poetry at an early age. After majoring in Indian theatre from Punjab University, Chandigarh, Shellee did a lot of theater. Bollywood called eventually and after a spate of seven unreleased films, he finally struck gold with Anurag Kashap’s "Dev D". With songs like "Dhol Yara Dhol", "Pardesi" and "Mahi Mennu" composed by Amit Trivedi, Bollywood finally took notice of Shellee.

 

Shellee went on to write lyrics for films like "Admissions Open" (2009), "Aalaap" (2012) and "Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana". He has collaborated extensively with the band Agnee and penned several songs for Coke Studio, India.
