Suchitra Krishnamoorthi is an Indian actress, painter, singer and writer.
Her career began with a TV series called “Chunauti” in 1987. In the nineties she was a successful model as the face of many domestic brands. She got into films in 1994 with “Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa”.
She is also a trained Hindustani classical singer of the Gwalior gharana, having studied music for over ten years. In the mid-nineties, she pursued a career in music with albums like “Dole Dole”, “Dum Tara” and “Aha”. The title track of one of her albums-“Zindagi”- was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
As a playback singer she has sung in movies like “Kis Kis Ki Kismat” (2004), “Iski Topi Uske Sar” (1998), “Gangster” (1995) and for a telugu movie “Gulabi” (1996). She has worked with music directors like Anu Malik, Rajesh Roshan, Sunil Kaushik and Sasi Preetham.
She married popular film director Shekhar Kapur and has a daughter named Kaveri. They divorced in 2007.
