Varma Malik is a Bollywood lyricist. He was born in 1925 in Firozpur, now in Pakistan.  He participated in India’s freedom struggle and wrote a number of patriotic songs. An ardent bhajan singer, he often started his work with a bhajan.  Malik chose India after the partition and died on March 15, 2009.   


He got his first break as a lyricist, in 1970, in Manoj Kumar’s film “Yadgar”. He also wrote the lyrics for the songs in “Victoria No. 203”.
