Vijay Prakash is a playback singer and music composer in the film industry. Other regional languages he has sung in include Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. He was one of the singers who sang “Jai Ho” (“Slumdog Millionare”, 2008) which won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song.
Vijay, who hails form Mysore, has been in Mumbai since 1996. He is the son of classical musicians L. Ramasesha and Lopa Mudra Prakash. He is also a trained classical musician. He has worked extensively with A.R. Rahman.
“Beera Beera” (“Raavan”, 2010), “Kyun Keeda Hai Aapko” (“Quickgun Murugan”, 2009), “Manmohini” (“Yuvvraaj”, 2008) “Pal Pal Hai Bhaari” (“Swades” (2004) and “Kandhon Se Milte Hain Kandhe” (“Lakshya”, 2004) are some of the popular songs sung by Vijay. Some of the Hindi movies he has sung in include “Click” (2010), “Blue” (2009), “Cheeni Kum” (2007), “Kaal” (2005), “Matrubhoomi” (2003) and “Tere Naam” (2003).
Vijay Prakash moved into music direction with the Kannada film “Andar Bahar” (2012).
