Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani form the music director duo known popularly as Vishal - Shekhar. Vishal was the vocalist of the band Pentagram and Shekhar, an IT professional who got noticed in Zee TV’s singing contest Sa Re Ga Ma in 1997 before they came together for the first time to make the music of the film “Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi” (1999).
Their music for “Jhankaar Beats” (2003) propelled their career as the song “Tu Aashqui Hai” became very popular. The movie also won them the Filmfare R.D. Burman Award that year. Another chartbuster “Allah Ke Bande” (“Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II”, 2003) got them further attention and also helped popularize singer Kailash Kher.
Since then, they have gone on to compose music for several films including “Salaam Namaste” (2005), “Om Shanti Om” (2007), “Tees Maar Khan” (2010), “Ra.One” (2011) and "Kahaani" (2012). Both Vishal and Shekar are accomplished singers and have lent their voices to both their own compositions as well as to songs by other music directors. Vishal also writes lyrics for songs occassionaly.
