This was Mohammed Rafi's first song for O.P. Nayyar after a period of about three years. The two had stopped working together after they had a fallout when the singer reported late to the studio for the recording of a song for the film "Humsaya" (1968). When Rafi told Nayyar that he had been delayed by a recording session with Shankar - Jaikishan, the headstrong music director told him that it would be better if they parted ways. Nayyar made do with Mukesh and Mahendra Kapoor after this incident.[1][2]
