  • Ustad Amir Khan had been convinced to lend his voice for Tansen's character in this film. The director, Vijay Bhatt, and music director, Naushad, couldn't decide the singer for Baiju Bawra's character, since they couldn't think of anyone who could credibly "defeat" Ustad Amir Khan's singing. Their problem was finally solved when the Ustad recommended D.V. Paluskar, a classical singer whom the Ustad held in high regard and did not mind losing to![1]
