The music for this song was conceived on the sets of the film "Miya Bibi Razi" (1960) on which R.D. Burman was assisting his father, music director S.D. Burman. Mehmood, who had an acting role in the film, was fascinated by the Flamenco dance he had witnessed during a recent trip abroad and demonstrated it to the unit. R.D. Burman and some others clapped to the dance's rhythm and came up with a tune that was later incorporated into this song.[1]
