Trivia

  • The sequence leading up to this song depicted Dev Anand's character appearing to follow the character played by Shakila, starting at a bus stop. Both of them boarded the same bus and got off at the Worli Seaface. The background music theme used throughout this sequence was based on the tune of the song "Mohabbat Kar Lo Jee Bhar Lo" ("Aar Paar", 1954). Following this song, it is revealed that Dev Anand was, in fact, going to Shakila's house on official business - to meet her father, a Superintendent of Police. Similar sequences - of the heroine suspecting the hero of following her and finding out later that both had the same destination - were used in other films as well. One, featuring Dev Anand and Nanda, was used in the opening of "Teen Devian" (1965) and another, featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Moushumi Chatterjee, was the first scene in "Manzil" (1977). This theme had a real-life precedent in the film industry. While on her way to the recording studio for "Ziddi" (1948), Lata Mangeshkar suspected a man of following her. Little did she know that the man was Kishore Kumar, on his way to the same studio to record his first-ever duet with her. Her concerns were put to ease when music director Khemchand Prakash introduced them at the studio.[1][2][3][4][MR7]
  • The tune of this song was plagiarised by Ghantasala for the Telugu film song "Oho Basthi Dorasaani" ("Abhimanam", 1960).[5]
