Pankaj Mullick is credited with creating the tonga rhythm musical template with this 1941 song. He is said to have used empty coconut shells to create the effect of a galloping "ghoda gadi". Over the next few decades, tonga rhythm songs became very popular in the Hindi film industry and O.P. Nayyar created a special niche for himself with this rhythm.
