The original Tamil version of this song from "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa" (2010) was sung by Vijay Prakash, Suzanne D'Mello, and Blaaze.
An organisation called the Catholic-Christian Secular Forum objected to the usage of the word "Hosanna" in this song. They asserted that the word had a special meaning for Christians and Jews and should only be used in prayers. The group threatened to take the makers of the film to court if they did not remove the song from it before release. Music director A.R. Rahman clarified that he had gotten in touch with his friends, Christians included, about using the word in the song and nobody had objected. The film's distributors Fox Star Studios said that they would be replying to the Catholic-Christian Secular Forum and that there was no question of removing the song from the film. Interestingly, nobody had objected to the word in the version of this song used in the original film.
