- This was a version of a song Dub Sharma had originally recorded in 2016. The original song was built around a sound sample of the sloganeering of Kanhaiya Kumar, the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students' Union President, and his supporters. Kumar had raised these slogans at a meeting held at JNU a day following his release on bail after being arrested on charges of sedition. The charges were lodged against Kumar after seditious slogans were raised at an event held in JNU in support of the Kashmiri separatist Afzal Guru. The sloganeering samples were edited out and replaced with rap lyrics by Divine in the recreated version of the song.[1][2][3][4][5]
