- Jaidev had initially planned to use M.S. Subbulakshmi's voice for this song. He ended up giving it to Lata Mangeshkar after she asked him for the opportunity to sing it.[MR4]
- The original 78 rpm recording of this song had Sahir Ludhianvi's original lyrics for the song in which the first antara started with "Is dharti ka roop na ujde". Sahir later changed these lyrics to "Maangon ka sindoor na chhoote" to fit the film's context. It was this altered version that was used in the film.[MR10]
