The composition of this song took a long time to perfect - about twenty days. Vijay Anand wanted a sensual rhythm in the song and referred Kalyanji - Anandji and Rajendra Krishan to S.D. Burman's "Raat Akeli Hai Bujh Gaye Diye" ("Jewel Thief", 1967) as an example of how words could be spaced to get the desired rhythm. It was based on this brief that the word "dekhoge" in the song's mukhda was spaced out as "de-kho-ge".[1][MR52]
Padma Khanna's strip-tease dance in this song created quite a flutter. The Censor Board had asked Vijay Anand to remove the song from the film but the director convinced them that it was tastefully shot and essential for the film.[MR52]
