This song was an adaptation of the popular New Orleans song "Iko Iko" that has been covered by many artists over the years. While "Iko Iko" was originally released in 1953, it gained popularity when the American band The Dixie Cups recorded a version in 1965. Viju Shah's song "Aiko Haina" ("Muqaddar Ka Badshaah", 1990) may also have been inspired by the same song.[1][2]
