Trivia

  • This song was inspired by Dick Dale's surf rock instrumental track "Misirlou" (1962), which became popular years later when it was included in the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction" (1994). Dick Dale's track itself was an interpretation of an Eastern Mediterranean folk song. In an interview, Pyarelal of Laxmikant - Pyarelal confessed that it was Laxmikant who had adapted the tune and that he himself wasn't aware of its origin till Shammi Kapoor asked them about it. Laxmikant - Pyarelal adapted the same tune again for the Hindi film song "Hum Banjaaron Ki Baat Mat Poochho Ji" ("Dharam Veer", 1977).[1][2][3]
