- Lata Mangeshkar won the first Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer for this song. This was the first year of this award category as well as the Best Lyricist category. Till this song, Filmfare only had a Best Music Director award in the music category. The two new categories were instituted when Lata Mangeshkar boycotted the previous year's Filmfare Awards function and demanded separate awards for artists other than music directors. The first Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist went to Shailendra for "Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai" ("Yahudi", 1958).[1][MR3]
