Shantiveer Kaul, the son of the Kashmiri poet Dinanath Nadim, sent a legal notice alleging copyright infringement to the producer and director of the film, Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Kaul alleged that the lyrics of this song had been taken without permission from his father's work "Bombur ta Yemberzal", considered the first Kashmiri opera. The song in the opera was composed by Mohan Lal Aima and was adapted from a Chakri folk tune. The same folk song was used by music director Vishal Mishra for a song in the film "Notebook" (2019).[1][2][3][4]
