For a long time, it was believed that the singer Thakur credited in this song was actor Pran, on whom the song was filmed. Decades later, the December 2022 edition of the Listeners' Bulletin, published by Har Mandir Singh 'Hamraaz', identified the singer as Thakur Desai. Desai sang a few other Hindi film songs but hid his identity since he was employed with the police at the time. He remained uncredited in "Teriya Teriya Teriya Totari Teriya Do Jaan Ausne Jo" ("Chalis Baba Ek Chor", 1954). He used the name of his son, Vinod Desai, in "Beta Jag Janwaron Ka Mela" ("Anjali", 1957) and "O Mast Nazar Tu Chahe Agar" ("Kinare Kinare", 1963).[1][2][3][MR4]
