- This song opened with the couplet "Dil ke phaphole jal uthe seene ke daag se / Is ghar ko aag lag gayi ghar ke chirag se". The couplet is attributed to an obscure poet named Mahtab Tai Taban. It is said that Taban recited this shair at a Delhi mushaira when he was only 12 years old and was highly appreciated. The couplet was used in two other Hindi film songs - "Andhe Ki Lathi Tu Hi Hai" ("Dhoop Chhaon", 1935) and "Taqdeer Ne Hans Hans Ke Mere Dil Ko Rulaya" ("Jallad", 1956).[1][2]
