Trivia
Anu Malik alleged that Pritam had plagiarised his song "Mohabbat Naam Hai Kiska" ("Ajnabee", 2001) for the tune of this song.[1][2]
This song featured sequences that re-created scenes from classic Hindi films. It featured Salman Khan and Zarine Khan enacting the roles played by Dilip Kumar and Madhubala in "Mughal-E-Azam" (1960), Dharmendra and Hema Malini in "Sholay" (1975), and Raj Kapoor and Nargis in "Shree 420" (1955). According to Salman Khan, the song was a tribute to Dilip Kumar, Dharmendra, and Raj Kapoor.[3][4][5][6]
A lyricist named Turkish Mohammed Azam had alleged that the opening four lines of this song were his and that he had registered them with the Film Writers' Association in 2007. He also claimed that he had shared these lines with music director Pritam but never heard back from him. Azam had approached the Bombay High Court and asked for a stay of the film's release till the filmmakers did one of the following - give him credit or remove the four lines from the song. Pritam's lawyer argued in court that the four lines were from a poem that was in the public domain and were not written by Azam. The court dismissed the petition and allowed the film to be released.[7]
