- The team of Mani Ratnam, A.R. Rahman and Gulzar had first explored the concept of different shades of love in "Satrangi Re" ("Dil Se", 1998). Mani Ratnam wanted to further explore this concept, and this resulted in the song "Pachchai Nirame" ("Alaiypayuthe", 2000), the original Tamil version of this song.[1][2][MR17]
