Mattel, the owners of the Barbie brand of dolls, approached the Delhi High Court asking for the film's release to be stayed citing trademark infringement. Mattel said that the song had used the Barbie brand name without their permission. They contended that given the fact that the song was filmed on Sunny Leone, a former adult movie star, it sent the "wrong signal to children". The court dismissed the petition stating "Barbie is seeking in India what has been denied to it in the Court of its origin". This was perhaps a reference to Mattel's litigation against the hit song "Barbie Girl" (1997) by the Danish pop group Aqua. Following the court's ruling, the song was used as-is in the Hindi film but was replaced by a different version in the audio release for some reason. In the version of the song in the music album, the word "Barbie" was replaced with "Baby".[1][2]
